I have never really been much into New Year’s Resolutions. I guess I just believe that if you are conscious of something you need to change what does it matter if you start that commitment to change on February 20th, November 16th, December 29th or whenever you think to yourself “Hey! I need to change this!”. I know there are tons of things I need to work on and I try to work on those things 365 days a year. Although some days I am a lot more committed than others. I do have things I want to accomplish in 2013 but I wouldn’t call them resolutions. I would really just call it reality. These things just need to be accomplished.
My son Collin will be three this month and my sweet child still is not potty trained. He totally understands the concept of using the potty he just has no interest in it. He praises me for going to the potty all the time! “Mommy, you pee pee in the water! Wow! That’s so good!”. If you aren’t a parent already and somehow stumbled across this blog let me just go ahead and tell you that once you become a mom you will never potty alone again. Like ever! Its like kids have this little alarm that goes off that says “Hey Dude! Your mom is in the bathroom!”
I will house train this new dog of ours! (Notice this is right up there with potty training my human child) I have the most precious Pomeranian. His name is Saban! Yes, SABAN! ROLL TIDE! Anyway… I have come to the conclusion that this dog plays outside and literally holds it so he can come in and go to the bathroom in my house. Its like he jumps up and down outside the front door screaming “I have to pee! I have to pee! PLLLLEEAASSEEEE let me come in! PLEASE!” Then he squats… well actually now that he is a little older he no longer squats he actually lifts he little tiny leg and pees where he lands. In 2013 I will house break this flipping dog.
I am going to be committed to read more books! I use to love reading devotionals, self help books… really just about anything. Now whatever I want to know I can just google. It has made me lazy. So, I will read more books. I have actually been reading a totally awesome book called Power of a Positive Woman by Karol Ladd. I have read this book like 5 times… so if you are looking for a good book. Read this! You will be glad you did!
I will also completely read through the Bible in 2013. : ) Actually joined a Facebook page to help me with this so click here if you’d like to join us!
So what do you need to work on? Notice I didn’t ask what your Resolutions were… : )

I am so with you on the whole resolutions thing…but yes, I have tons of things that I want to work on this year! I think that’s why I’ve started making a to-do list at the beginning of each year. By writing it down (last year I wrote a blog post about it) I can hold myself accountable at the end of each year. Some of last years list I accomplished while other things I flat out failed at, but I loved having a concrete list that I could refer back to. It’s also fun to see how your priorities change – several of the things that were on last years list that I wasn’t successful in completing won’t be going back on this years list because they are no longer important to me for one reason or another.
This year’s list includes – bringing my lunch to work more, walking 20 minutes or more a day 3 times per week, and taking 10 minutes at the end of each day to clean one area of the house!
